Follow Ursuline Athletics on FacebookUNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – The Ursuline College volleyball team won its fifth straight match in convincing fashion on Saturday (Sep. 20) afternoon, knocking off Glenville State College in straight sets at John Carroll University's Tony DeCarlo Varsity Center.
UC won the first set 25-19 and the second 25-14 before the Pioneers took the Arrows to the limit in the third game which UC ultimately won 26-24.
The Arrows are now 5-1 overall while Glenville State, losers in seven straight, is 1-11.
Sophomore Emily Adkinson led the way on Saturday with a match-high 11 kills. She hit a whopping .588 after committing just one error in 17 chances. Her classmate Makayla Windau had eight kills, one more than junior Elise Harcek.
Senior setter Molly Hilfinger was credited with six kills but also handed out 33 assists, some of which went to junior Abbie Fabo (five kills) and freshman Courtney Burns (three kills).
Junior libero Jaclyn Brandt paced the Arrows with 13 digs and Windau had 10 to pick up the double-double. Junior Sabrina Kinney did a nice job in the third set and served some crucial points down the stretch.
As a team, the Arrows did a great job at the net. Hilfinger had two solo blocks and Windau also picked up one. Harcek was a part of three blocks and as a team, UC had seven total blocks in the three sets.
Ursuline has its final non-conference match before G-MAC play on Tuesday (Sep. 23) against
