FINDLAY, Ohio – The Ursuline College lacrosse team, playing down a player because the injury bug has bit the team, was turned away by the University of Findlay, 27-5, on Sunday (April 6) afternoon.

The loss dropped the Arrows to 2-6 overall and 0-3 in the conference while the Oilers improved to 4-7 overall and 2-1 in the GLIAC.

Freshman Bailey Patterson scored three times and her classmate Sarah Kiefer added a pair of goals. Rookie Breana Cervantes was credited with an assist in the loss.

Findlay took a 2-1 lead before Patterson scored on a free position shot to cut the lead in half. The Oilers scored the next two goals before Kiefer beat UF keeper Katie Poorman to slice into the deficit. Nicole Stines scored for Findlay and Patterson answered with her second goal to allow UC to hang around down just 6-3 but the Oilers went on an 11-goal run to make it a 17-3 game before Patterson scored just before halftime to make the score 17-4.

Kiefer's second goal of the contest came with 11:59 remaining in the second half but at that point, Findlay was already ahead 23-5.

Findlay's Sarah Lankton and Stines both had five goals while Kyra Bradley scored four times and Taylor Trice and Mackenzie Barnwell each beat the UC defense for a pair of goals.

Ursuline's freshman goalkeeper Lauren Cole did make 12 saves while her counterpart Poorman was forced to make just three stops as the Oilers outshot the Arrows 47-10.

The Arrows are idle from competition until Friday's (April 11) game against Tiffin University in what will be UC's home opener. That game will start at 4:00 p.m. and Max Radigan will call the action live on the Ursuline College Sports Network.
