Box Score

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Freshman guard Jenny Grigsby scored a career-high 20 points and her senior backcourt mate Katie Cappello chipped in a season-high 18 as Ursuline College knocked off the guests from Ohio Valley University, 87-73, in a Great Midwest Athletic Conference contest on Thursday (Feb. 6) night.

The Arrows evened their record at 10-10 overall and climbed a game over .500 at 6-5 in conference play. The Pioneers, losers in five straight, are now 5-14 overall and 2-8 in the G-MAC. OVU is 1-8 away from home.

Both Grigsby and Cappello were an efficient 6-11 from the field and junior Emma Ricketts connected on seven of her 12 field goal attempts on her way to 16 points. Freshman wing Tajanee Wells, who scored a career-high 31 points in the Jan. 16 win at OVU, finished Thursday's game with 12 and her classmate Erica Huber had 10 to give UC five players in double figures.

UC shot the ball well and hit a season-high 10 three pointers. The Arrows were 10-25 from beyond the arc (40 percent) and finished the game at 49.2 percent (29-59) from the field. OVU didn't shoot particularly well (38.6 percent) but the Pioneers had 15 offensive boards that resulted in 20 second chance points. Overall, OVU won the battle of the boards by 10, 37-27.

Shannon Sword's team took a 47-33 lead into halftime thanks in large part to 12 first half points from Grigsby. The Arrows came out a little sluggish to the start the second period but eventually built a 19-point lead before settling on the 14-point final margin.

On Saturday (Feb. 8), Ursuline will host Salem International University (4-15, 0-9 G-MAC) in its final conference home game of the season at John Carroll University's Tony DeCarlo Varsity Center. Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m. and Max Radigan will call the action live on the Ursuline College Sports Network. Additionally, the Pizzazz on the Circle Live Stats will be provided here.

If you're coming to the game, we encourage you to wear pink as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Night.

When these teams got together in Salem, W. Va., on Jan. 18, UC won 79-66, thanks in large part to 22 points and a career-high 13 assists from Huber and what was then a career-high 18 points from Grigsby.
