OWENSBORO, Ky. – Kentucky Wesleyan guard Karly Rhoads made two game-winning free throws with 2.5 seconds left as the host Panthers squeaked by Ursuline College, 77-75, in a Great Midwest Athletic Conference contest Thursday (Feb. 27)  night.

The Arrows, who have already locked up the fifth seed in next week's conference tournament, are now 13-12 overall and 8-7 in G-MAC play. KWC improved to 17-8 and 11-4 in the conference.

As a sign of how far the Arrows have come this season, you can reference the fact KWC won the first meeting between these two teams 81-57 at Quicken Loans Arena on Jan. 22.

Thursday's game was tied at 31 at halftime before KWC opened the second half with a 14-2 run to build its biggest lead of the night at 45-33 at 17:24 on the clock. Over the next 10:24 the Panthers held the advantage between five and 11 points.

The resilient Arrows then went on a 13-2 run to tie the contest at 63 with 4:44 remaining. KWC twice extended the lead to four at the 1:37 and 51 second mark.

After going back and forth, freshman guard Erica Huber hit a three-pointer to get UC within one at 73-72 with 42 seconds left. The Panthers connected on two free throws to re-establish a three-point margin and then junior guard Brianna Woods tripled to tie the game at 75.

On the game's final possession, Rhoads was fouled and calmly connected on both tosses from the 15-foot line to decide the outcome.

Not to be lost in the defeat was Woods dishing out four assists to move in front of Jessica Wood on the all-time list. Woods now has 346 career assists, the most ever by an Arrow.

Huber led Ursuline with 17 points while Woods and freshmen Laney Lewis and Tajanee Wells each scored 14. The 14 points from Lewis, who also had seven rebounds, established a new career-high.

Ursuline will conclude the regular season on Saturday (March 1) at Trevecca Nazarene University (16-8, 13-2 G-MAC). That game will tip-off at 3:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (2:00 p.m. Central Standard Time) and will be covered with free live video and free live stats, both of which can be accessed here.

When these two teams met in University Heights on Jan. 25, the Trojans won 86-75.
