SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio – The Ursuline College freshmen combined for 59 points but it wasn't enough as the Arrows fell to West Liberty University by a score of 102-78 on Saturday (Dec. 20) afternoon at Notre Dame College's Holiday Classic.
Ursuline finishes the 2014 calendar year with a record of 2-10 while West Liberty snapped its two-game losing streak and improved to 6-3 overall.
Freshman Makayla Rosselot led UC with 23 points on 5-9 shooting. She hit two of her three-point attempts and was 11-12 at the charity stripe.
Rookie Camryn Hill had 11 points and eight rebounds and fellow freshman Madison Schroeder contributed nine points and six boards.
Seniors Emma Ricketts and Brianna Woods both scored eight while freshmen guards Camille Gist and Kylie Owoc chipped in seven points each which set a new career-high for Owoc.
Sophomore point guard Erica Huber hit three free throws and freshman Kristen Curtis was 2-2 from the free throw line.
Liz Flowers led WLU with a game-high 29 points on 10-26 shooting and Kierra Simpson had 21 points (on 12 shots) and 13 rebounds. Janay Bottoms went 8-8 at the free throw line on her way to 16 points and Kailee Howe had 11 points, six rebounds, five assists and five steals.
Ursuline had 27 turnovers compared to 18 from West Liberty but the Arrows had just six assists as a team and the Hilltoppers had 18. WLU hit 10 three-pointers and Rosselot hit the only two three-balls for the Arrows.
The Hilltoppers had 16 more points off turnovers than the Arrows (33-17) and finished with 18 second chance points compared to three by UC.
Ursuline is idle from competition for two weeks and won't play again until January 3rd against
