SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio - The Ursuline College basketball team fell to neighborhood rival Notre Dame College, 75-53 on Friday (Dec. 19) night.

The Arrows are now 2-9 overall while the Falcons, winners in three straight, improved to 5-4 on the year.

Freshman guard Makayla Rosselot led Ursuline in scoring for the fourth time this season with 15 points. She was 5-10 (50 percent) from the field and 3-5 (60 percent) from three-point territory. Senior guard Brianna Woods also shot the basketball well, knocking down six of her 12 (50 percent) field goal attempts on her way to 12 points.

Senior Emma Ricketts finished with nine points and nine rebounds, coming up just shy of earning her fourth double-double of the year.

Freshman guard Camille Gist provided a nice spark off the bench and had nine points in her 26 minutes of action.

Notre Dame's Martha Nagbe, who was honored prior to the game for recently surpassing the 1,000-point plateau, had a game-high 21 points on Friday. Lauren Langenderfer contributed 16 points and six boards while Molly Ritz scored 10 and grabbed 11 rebounds, seven of which came on the offensive end.

Kelsey Miller also had 11 rebounds for the Falcons as NDC won the battle of the boards by six, 47-41. UC rookie Madison Schroeder helped the cause with a career-high 10 rebounds and her classmate Camryn Hill corralled eight.

Notre Dame jumped in front early on Friday night and led by 14 just 3:58 into the game when Alyssa Kraus hit a three-pointer to make it a 16-2 game. The resilient Arrows, who sometimes had four freshmen and a sophomore on the court, fought back with a 14-0 run and tied the game at 16-16 after a Rosselot bucket with 10:36 left in the half.

The Falcons took a 38-29 lead into halftime and the two teams traded hoops for much of the early second period. A Schroeder jumper cut the deficit to nine at 53-44 with 10:41 left in regulation but the Falcons rattled off 10 straight to grow the lead to 63-44 over the next two minutes and eight seconds and the 19-point deficit proved to be insurmountable.

The Arrows will close the 2014 calendar year tomorrow (Saturday - Dec. 20) against West Liberty University at 2:00 p.m. That game will be played at Notre Dame College's Murphy Gymnasium in the Keller Center.

Max Radigan will call the action live on the Ursuline College Sports Network and live stats will be available here.
