Become a fan of Ursuline Basketball on FacebookCLARION, Pa. - Despite a strong second half push, the Ursuline College basketball team was defeated by host Clarion University 66-54 on Sunday (Nov. 23) afternoon.
Ursuline is now 0-4 while Clarion improved to 1-3 on the young year.
Clarion led 38-19 at the break before the Arrows won the second half by seven, 35-28. In the first half, Ursuline hit just seven of 32 field goal attempts (21.9 percent) but heated up to go 13-39 (33.3 percent) in the final 20 minutes. The home team shot a whopping 47 percent (16-34) in the first period but came down to 33.4 percent (12-33) after the intermission.
Freshman guard Makayla Rosselot led the Arrows in scoring for the second time this year with 12 points. Senior forward Emma Ricketts scored 11 and pulled down five defensive rebounds. The other Arrow to score in double figures was sophomore point guard Erica Huber. The 5-foot-4 lead guard scored 10 points and collected a career-high 10 boards.
Hannah Heeter led Clarion with 18 points and 14 rebounds in her 35 minutes of action. She was 9-13 from the field and also had two blocks to go with two steals.
The Eagles had a slight edge in rebounding (48-44) and committed two fewer turnovers than UC (17-15). As a team, Clarion swatted seven shots.
