Follow Ursuline Athletics on FacebookSHAKER HEIGHTS, Ohio - The Ursuline College volleyball team took care of Davis & Elkins College in four sets on Sunday (Oct. 5) afternoon to remain perfect in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC).
The Arrows won the first set 25-14 before the Senators took the second, 25-22. Ursuline re-gained control and won the final two games, 25-15 and 25-19.
UC is now 11-2 overall and 4-0 in the G-MAC while D&E dipped to 4-7 overall and 1-3 in the conference.
Junior Abbie Fabo and sophomore Emily Adkinson led the way with 10 kills each. Fabo added 12 digs grab her fourth double-double of the year. Freshman Courtney Burns had eight kills and junior Elise Harcek had six.
Senior setter Molly Hilfinger was credited with five kills to go along with 32 assists, some of which went to sophomores Makayla Windau (five kills) and Sammi Marcum (one kill).
Adkinson (four), Harcek (three) and Windau (three) led the team in blocking assists and the Arrows finished with seven team blocks.
Fabo's 12 digs were a team-high but Windau added 11 to get into double figures in that category.
Callie Updike had a match-high 14 kills for D&E as the setting duo of Haylee Murray (20 assists) and Jessie Kerns (15 assists) spread the ball around. Murray also led the team with 11 digs and Kayla Godwin was credited with a pair of solo blocks.
Ursuline will take a quick break from conference play with a Tuesday (Oct. 7) trip to Pittsburgh to take on
Carlow University. That match will start at 7:00 p.m.
