SHAKER HEIGHTS, Ohio - The Ursuline College volleyball team fell to Urbana University in five sets on Tuesday (Oct. 21) night at Hathaway Brown School's Corrigan-Daniels Athletic Center. It was a back-and-forth affair that saw 26 ties and 14 lead changes.

Urbana took set one 25-15 before Ursuline bounced back with a 25-21 victory in the second stanza. The Blue Knights jumped out to a 2-1 lead after claiming the third set (27-25) but the Arrows wouldn't go away easily and won set four by a score of 25-18 to force the deciding set that ultimately went to Urbana 15-13.

In the fifth set, the Arrows had an 8-3 lead when the teams flipped sides of the court. Urbana rattled off four straight points to cut the lead to 8-7 and then the teams went back-and-forth and were tied at 10-10, 11-11 and 12-12 before Urbana took a 14-12 lead. An Urbana attack error delayed a Blue Knight celebration but UU's Aleese Butler recorded a kill to clinch the match.

With the loss, Ursuline has dropped three of its last four matches and sits at 14-6 overall while Urbana climbed a game over .500 at 12-11.

UC junior Abbie Fabo (14 kills/11 digs) and sophomore Makayla Windau (13 kills/14 digs) both had double-doubles in the losing effort, as did senior setter Molly Hilfinger (44 assists/11 digs). Sophomore Emily Adkinson, fourth in the nation in hitting percentage, chipped in 10 kills and was a part of three blocks.

Junior Sabrina Kinney was credited with a career-high 15 digs and she also had four service aces, two of which came in the big fourth set victory.

Freshman Courtney Burns (seven) and junior Elise Harcek (six) combined for 13 kills while sophomore Sammi Marcum (13) and junior Jaclyn Brandt (12) also reached double figures in digs.

Urbana was led by the trio of Katlynn Dunlap (27 kills/16 digs), Kelsey Volkmer (21 kills/28 digs) and Mary Hendricks (nine kills/60 assists/13 digs). Defensive specialists Kaci Eurez (24 digs) and Maia Dunlap (16 digs) seemed to be all over the court.

The Arrows are idle until next Tuesday (Oct. 28) when Bluefield State College comes to town. That match, which is being held at Hathaway Brown School's Corrigan-Daniels Athletic Center, starts at 7:00 p.m. and will be covered with free live stats and free live audio.
