SHAKER HEIGHTS, Ohio - The Ursuline College volleyball team dropped its first Great Midwest Athletic Conference match of the season in five sets to Ohio Valley University on Friday (Oct. 10) night.

The Arrows won the first set, 25-21, before dropping set number two, 25-13. UC rebounded with a 25-20 third set victory but the Fighting Scots won the next two, 25-23 and 15-8.

While watching their three-match winning streak come to a halt, the Arrows dipped to 12-3 overall and 4-1 in the G-MAC. OVU has won six straight since falling to UC on Sep. 27 and improved to 13-8 overall and 2-1 in conference play.

Alyx Henry and Imani Ward were a dynamite duo for the Fighting Scots all night long. Henry had 29 kills and five errors in 57 total attacks (.421) and Ward hit .317 (20 kills/seven errors/41 chances). OVU setter Jessica Simpson set up her teammates time after time and finished the match with 58 assists.

Junior Abbie Fabo had a career-high 19 kills (previous career-high was 14) to go along with eight digs. No other Arrow had more than seven kills, the number that was reached by sophomores Emily Adkinson and Makayla Windau.

Windau led the club with 19 digs and a career-high four solo blocks. Senior setter Molly Hilfinger had 14 digs as well as six kills and 31 assists.

Junior Elise Harcek stuffed the stat sheet with five kills, three digs, 2.5 blocks and an assist. Freshman Courtney Burns had three kills and junior Sabrina Kinney chipped in one.

Sophomore Sammi Marcum had seven digs, one more than senior Brittany Kempf and junior Jaclyn Brandt who returned to the court for the first time since Sep. 23 because of an ankle injury.

The Arrows play Salem International University on Saturday (Oct. 11) at 2:00 p.m. at Hathaway Brown School's Corrigan-Daniels Athletic Center.
