FAIRMONT, W. Va. – The Ursuline College volleyball team opened the season with a 1-3 weekend at the Falcon Fest, hosted by Fairmont State University.

All four matches were decided in three sets. The Arrows lost to Mercyhurst to open the season before knocking off Winston-Salem State to conclude Friday's (Sep. 6) action. On Saturday (Sep. 7), UC fell to Seton Hill and Pitt-Johnstown.

Senior Alex Leister led the club with 23 kills and her 41 digs were second on the team behind junior Kelly Stenger's 59.

Freshman Sammi Marcum was second on the team with 19 kills (.271 hitting percentage) while junior setter Molly Hilfinger, a transfer from Owens Community College, handed out 73 assists.

Senior Molly Sabolsky, back from an injury that sidelined her for the entire 2012 season, led the team in blocks.

The Arrows open up the home portion of their schedule on Wednesday (Sep. 11) when Tiffin University makes the trip northeast. Wednesday's 7:00 p.m. match will be held at Laurel School's Lyman Circle campus and will be covered with free live stats and free live audio on the UC Sports Network.
