ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. – After a tough five-set loss to friendly neighborhood rival Notre Dame College on Tuesday (Sep. 24) night, the Ursuline College volleyball team bounced back in a big way with a perfect three-for-three showing at the Rochester College Quad on Saturday (Sep. 28).

The Arrows were pushed to the brink in a five-set win over Marygrove College (14-25, 25-18, 25-21, 22-25, 15-7) before they swept Purdue North Central University (25-15, 25-21, 25-12) and the host Warriors (25-21, 25-20, 25- 22) to conclude the day. Ursuline finished the day with a 6-5 record on the year.

Against Marygrove, who fell to 11-8 overall with the loss to Ursuline, freshman Makayla Windau had the best match of her collegiate career. She led the Arrows with a career-high 16 kills to go along with a season-high 14 digs. Entering the match, her previous high was two kills.

Senior Alex Leister also helped the cause with 13 kills and 16 digs as the Arrows hung on to end Marygrove's comeback bid. Windau and Leister were set up all morning by junior setter Molly Hilfinger who dished out a career-high 45 assists, 12 more than her previous best effort.

Freshman Sammi Marcum paced UC with nine kills in the three-set victory over Purdue North Central. Her nine kills were one more than Windau in what was a total team effort.

After the youth invasion in the first two matches of the day, senior Maureen Kelly stepped up against Rochester and produced 14 kills while hitting .636, the best by an Arrow all season. Hilfinger was again terrific with 33 assists and a career-high 13 digs.

In total, Hilfinger passed out 104 assists in the three matches to average 11.56 per set. Leister's 38 digs were the most by an Arrow on Saturday while Marcum (31 digs), Hilfinger (30 digs), sophomore Jaclyn Brandt (26 digs) and junior Kelly Stenger (23 digs) were also strong on defense.

The Arrows don't play again until next weekend's G-MAC Volleyball Crossover Event. The Arrows will enter conference play with four matches in two days at Courts4Sports in Mason, Ohio, with two contests on Friday (Oct. 4) and two more on Saturday (Oct. 5).
