SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio – After winning two matches the last time out, the Ursuline College volleyball team slipped up against Notre Dame College on Tuesday (Sep. 24) in South Euclid, Ohio. The Arrows had the momentum after winning the first two sets but the host Falcons rattled off three straight to earn the victory.
The Arrows won the first two sets 25-20 and 25-18. Notre Dame bounced back with 25-10 and 25-17 set victories to set up a deciding fifth game which the Falcons ultimately won, 15-12.
Ursuline is now 3-5 overall while Notre Dame ended its six-match losing streak and improved to 2-12.
As a team, Notre Dame hit -.120 and .042 in the first two sets but hit .269, .257 and .129, respectively, to conclude the match.
Freshman Sammi Marcum led UC with a new-career high of 13 kills. She had 35 total attacks on Tuesday, nine more than she had in a single match before that point. Junior setter Molly Hilfinger set her up all night on her way to a UC career-high 33 asissts.
As is usually the case, junior libero Kelly Stenger paced the defense with 15 digs.
Ursuline will compete again on Saturday (Sep. 28) at the
Rochester College Classic in Rochester Hills, Mich. The Arrows have matches against
Marygrove College at 9:00 a.m.,
Purdue University North Central at 1:00 p.m. and end the day with the host
Warriors at 3:30 p.m.
