Match Results vs. Kentucky Wesleyan / Match Results vs. Brescia

OWENSBORO, Ky. – With just five players available, the Ursuline tennis team had a tall order on Saturday in Owensboro, Kentucky. The Arrows fell to Kentucky Wesleyan College in the first match of the day by a score of 8-1 before dropping the final match of the trip to Brescia University, 9-0.

Ursuline is now 0-3 overall while Kentucky Wesleyan improved to 1-4 and Brescia jumped to 8-8.

Junior Alex Leister picked up the lone point for the Arrows when she defeated Kentucky Wesleyan’s Haley Kauffman 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4 singles. Her classmate Ashley Reinhart came close at No. 5 singles and won the first set 6-3 before dropping the next set, 6-2, to Sammy Jo Brett. Brett won the third set 10-7 to pick up the point for the Panthers.

Against Brescia, seniors Betsy Edwards (No. 1 singles) and Missy Mihalek (No. 3 singles) each took their match to a tiebreaker in the third set but came up short. Reinhart went into a third set tiebreaker again but came up short in five.

The Arrows were scheduled to host Geneva College on March 26 but that match was postponed. Ursuline will be in action next on April 7th when Kentucky Wesleyan travels to Pepper Pike.
