OBERLIN, Ohio – The Ursuline College tennis team had a less than ideal opponent in Oberlin College to open the 2013 season. The host Yeowomen swept the Arrows, 9-0, on Saturday evening to start a new era under head coach Chris Klampe.
The Yeowomen – ranked as the eighth best Division III program in the region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association after the fall season – swept Baldwin Wallace University earlier in the day to start the spring portion 2-0.
Freshman Kayla Wayts, playing in her first collegiate match of her career, had the most competitive match of the evening. She stretched it out to 90 minutes before falling to Alex Kahn at No. 5 singles.
The Arrows don’t have another match for six weeks. Ursuline will next be in action at
Brescia University in Owensboro, Ky. on March 23.
