PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Injuries limited Ursuline to just six healthy players and despite three Arrows scoring in double figures, UC suffered a 71-44 loss to host Carlow University on Tuesday (Feb. 12) night.
UC slipped to 3-18 overall while Carlow climbed a game over the .500 mark at 14-13.
The Arrows trailed by just seven points at halftime, 31-24, but the Celtics won the second half by 20 points and cruised to victory. UC didn’t help itself in the second stanza with 24.2 percent (8-33) shooting from the field. From behind the arc, the Arrows were 0-8 over the last 20 minutes.
Senior Laura Campbell, who missed Saturday’s game against Urbana due to injury, returned on Tuesday to score a team-high 13 points. Sophomore Brianna Woods and junior Natalie Cook each chipped in 11.
Lynzi Mueller came off the bench to lead the Celtics in scoring with 12 points. Carlow’s bench bunch combined to score 31 points while UC head coach Shannon Sword had just one substitute to use at her disposal.
In addition to a tough shooting night, the Arrows were up against a very formidable foe on the boards. Carlow outrebounded Ursuline by 27, 60-33.
