UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – Junior Emma Ricketts scored a game-high 20 points and pulled down a career-high 13 rebounds but it wasn't enough as Ursuline fell to Davis & Elkins College, 76-72, on Saturday (Dec. 14) afternoon at John Carroll University.

The loss snaps UC's two-game winning streak and puts the Arrows at 4-4 overall and 1-1 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference. Davis & Elkins ended its five-game losing skid and improved to 2-7 overall in what was the G-MAC opener for the Senators.

D&E led 34-32 at the intermission but UC eventually took the lead, 46-45, with 13:19 left in the game. The Arrows had a five-point lead numerous times in the second half with the last coming at 71-66 with 2:28 left.

Jason Asbell's team went on a 10-1 run in the last two-plus minutes and scored the final seven points of the game to head home with its first conference win of the season. The Arrows missed some big free throws down the stretch and were just 5-13 (38.5 percent) from the charity stripe in the second period after going 17-20 (85 percent) in the first half.

Ricketts scored 14 points in the second half to reach the 20-point mark for the third time this season and was the beneficiary of some excellent passes. Senior forward Natalie Cook had four assists in the final 20 minutes and Ricketts was often on the receiving end of a Cook feed.

Freshman Jenny Grigsby provided a nice lift in the scoring column, pouring in 16 points. Her classmate Erica Huber chipped in 11 and pulled down six boards from her lead guard position.

Junior Brianna Woods finished with nine points, four assists and two steals in the losing effort.

Jordan Lykes led D&E with 15 points and eight rebounds and guard Stephanie Wooten hit two three-pointers on her way to totaling 14 points. Post Sharmaine Baker hit five of her six field goal attempts to finish with 11 points.

A simple look at the numbers shows the Senators won the game because they had 16 second chance points while UC had a pair of put-back buckets. D&E also had 26 points off turnovers compared to 13 from UC.

The Arrows will take a break from conference play when they host Saint Joseph's College (Ind.) on Tuesday (Dec. 17) at 6:00 p.m. at John Carroll University's Tony DeCarlo Varsity Center.
