ELKINS, W. Va. – The Ursuline College volleyball team ended the regular season with a sweep of Davis & Elkins College on Saturday (Nov. 16) afternoon, avenging the 3-0 loss the Senators handed the Arrows back on Oct. 12.
Set scores on Saturday were 25-16, 25-20 and 25-12.
The Arrows conclude the regular season at 19-16 overall and 7-7 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference. Ursuline is one win shy of equaling the school record and the seven conference wins show a big improvement from last year's 7-30 season.
UC earned the fourth seed in the conference postseason tournament and Donna Day's team will battle fifth-seeded
Trevecca Nazarene University at 5:00 p.m. (Central Standard Time) on Thursday (Nov. 21) in the opening round of the
G-MAC Volleyball Championship. All seven postseason matches will be held in Owensboro, Ky., after Kentucky Wesleyan College claimed the regular season title with a win over Cedarville University on the final day of the regular season.
The Arrows beat the Trojans in three sets in both meetings (Oct. 5, Nov. 2) this season.
On Saturday, Ursuline totaled just 27 kills and no Arrow had more than freshman Makayla Windau's five. Junior setter Molly Hilfinger handed out 18 assists and scooped out 12 digs, four less than senior Alex Leister.
Natalie Mathieu had a match-high 10 kills for the Senators in the losing effort.
