CLEVELAND, Ohio – Tiffin University rebounded from a one-point halftime deficit and beat Ursuline College, 64-54, on Wednesday (Nov. 13) night at Case Western Reserve University's Horsburgh Gymnasium.

Rebounding was what ultimately spelled the demise of the Arrows (1-1), negating the fact that UC had eight fewer turnovers (25-17) than the opposition.

Tiffin (1-0) pulled down 21 rebounds in the first half, one more than Ursuline, but the Dragons won the battle of the boards 26-9 in the second period after trailing by one point, 29-28, at the break. Ursuline took 13 more shots than Tiffin but they weren't always high-percentage looks and only 29.7 percent (19-64) fell. The Dragons went 22-51 (43.1 percent) from the field.

TU guard Deidre McKay led all scorers with 18 points on 5-11 shooting. She was a perfect 6-6 from the free throw line and her team hit 78.9 percent (15-19) from the charity stripe while UC hit 10 of its 13 free throws.

Freshman Erica Huber, the reigning Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week, and junior Emma Ricketts each finished with 10 points to lead the Arrows. Huber's classmate Laney Lewis again provided a spark and contributed nine points off the bench for the second straight game.

The Dragons came out of halftime and went on a quick 6-0 run to build a 34-29 lead that they never relinquished. Tiffin grew its lead to as many as 15 at 59-44 but UC crawled back and cut the difference to eight with 1:40 left after a Huber three-pointer. UC then caused a turnover and had a three-point attempt that would have cut it to five but it didn't fall and the end of the game fouling started to take place before coming to an eventual end with UC down 10.

Ursuline will play its next three games on the road, starting with Tuesday's (Nov. 19) contest at Lourdes University. That game will start at 7:00 p.m. and will be covered with free live stats, courtesy of the Lourdes Sports Information Department.

As always, Max Radigan will provide free play-by-play on the Ursuline College Sports Network.
