DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Ursuline College swimming team went 0-2 at Saturday's (Oct. 26) Defiance College Tri-Meet. The Arrows lost to the host Yellow Jackets 82-78 and came up short against Urbana University, 88-56.
Ursuline is now 0-4 overall while Defiance finished the day at 2-3. Saturday was Urbana's first action of the season and the Blue Knights were a perfect two-for-two.
Freshman Hannah Jorz won the 1,000 free in a hotly-contest race. She finished in 12:46.08, just ahead of Defiance's Kianna DeHoek (12:46.15). Jorz also took second in the 500 free with a time of 6:18.18.
Her classmate Rachael Fogel won the 200 IM in 2:25.78, out-touching Urbana's Jacqueline Rex by less than one second (2:26.34). The rookie from Eastlake, Ohio, also took second in the 100 fly (1:09.24).
Sophomore Dani Reed was the quickest swimmer in the 100 back and it wasn't even really close. Reed covered the 100 yards in 1:07.00 and the next closest competitor finished in 1:14.26. Earlier in the day, she finished second in the 50 free with a time of 26.62.
Senior Allie Butta chipped in a pair of second place finishes in the 200 free (2:21.31) and 100 back (1:15.29).
As a group, those four Arrows finished second in the 200 medley relay (2:06.25) and turned in the best time in the 400 free (4:07.80) by more than five seconds but UC received no points because of the exhibition designation.
The Arrows are idle from competition until the
Hiram College Tri-Meet on Nov. 8. UC will battle the host Terriers and
Malone University at 6:00 p.m. on the second Friday of November.
