CEDARVILLE, Ohio – The Cedarville University volleyball team entered Friday (Oct. 25) tied for the Great Midwest Athletic Conference lead. It was easy to see why as the Lady Jackets beat the Arrows in four sets in a G-MAC match in Cedarville on Friday night.
The Arrows are now a game under .500 at 12-13 overall and UC enters Saturday 3-5 in conference play. Cedarville jumps to 14-12 overall and 7-1 in the G-MAC, tying the Lady Jackets with Kentucky Wesleyan College for first place.
Cedarville won the first set 25-18 before the Arrows tied things up with a 25-22 victory in the second frame. The Lady Jackets won the last two sets by identical 25-22 scores. When these two teams met in early October, Cedarville won in three and Ursuline never crossed 17 points in a single set, demonstrating tremendous improvement in just a few weeks.
Senior Alex Leister led Ursuline on Friday with 13 kills and 10 digs to notch her fourth double-double of the season and first since Oct. 5. Freshman Makayla Windau contributed eight kills and 15 digs, one shy of her career-high.
Cedarville was paced by 19 kills from Abby Shelton while Amanda Bell added 14 and Hannah Wagner had 13. Angela Becker was credited with 31 digs and Maddie Anderson (27) and Kristin Cardwell (20) combined for 47 assists.
Ursuline has two matches tomorrow in two different states. The Arrows will battle in-state conference foe
Central State University in Wilberforce at 11:00 a.m. before visiting
