Arrows Drop Second Match of Fall Break Trip to California

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. – After a 3-0 win to start the Golden State trip, the Ursuline College volleyball team was on the other end of a 3-0 decision against Dominican University (Calif.) on Tuesday (Oct. 15) night. UC dropped the first two sets by identical 25-10 counts before losing the hard-fought clinching set, 25-23.

The Arrows are now an even .500 at 10-10 overall while the Penguins improved to 5-14.

Senior Alex Leister had a team-high eight kills while junior Molly Hilfinger and freshmen Sammi Marcum and Makayla Windau each chipped in five. Hilfinger had 18 assists and 10 digs, two fewer than Leister.

Madeline Powelson (11) and Jessica Jones (10) each reached double figures in kills for Dominican and Kelsey Lardner recorded 36 assists. As a team, the Penguins hit .266 including a .440 mark in the second game.

Three Penguins had at least 10 digs, led by Valerie Larsen's 12.

The Arrows are back in action tomorrow night against the University of California – Santa Cruz. That match will begin at 10:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
