Volleyball Team Blanked by Battlers

SHAKER HEIGHTS, Ohio – The Ursuline College volleyball team ran into a tough Alderson Broaddus University club on Friday (Oct. 11) night and the Arrows were turned back in three: 25-18, 25-14 and 25-13.

The Arrows remain a game above the break-even mark at 9-8 overall and own a conference record of 2-3 while ABU climbed a game over .500. The Battlers are 10-9 overall and 4-1 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.

Senior Alex Leister had a team-high 10 kills and freshman Emily Adkinson chipped in seven. ABU's Caitlin Cain led all players with 11 kills and her teammate Jayla McCrary equaled Leister's 10.

Junior Molly Hilfinger handed out 22 assists in the losing effort while junior libero Kelly Stenger led the Arrows with nine digs.

The Battlers had 11 service aces compared to six from Ursuline and the Battlers had six blocks, four more than Ursuline.

UC has a quick turnaround with a 1:00 p.m. match against Davis & Elkins College on the schedule tomorrow.
