PEPPER PIKE, Ohio – Ursuline fell behind the guests from Trevecca Nazarene early and never could climb out of the bunker in Saturday afternoon’s 87-58 loss.

The loss was Ursuline’s fifth straight and dropped the Arrows to 3-12 overall and 0-3 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference. Trevecca Nazarene’s eighth consecutive victory improved the Trojans to 13-5 overall and 3-0 in the conference.

UC and TNU went into the first media timeout deadlocked at 12 but the Trojans proved to simply be too much. In the opening half, the Trojans shot 51.3 percent (20-39) from the field while Ursuline hit just eight of its 30 attempts (26.7 percent).

Trevecca Nazarene took a 48-23 lead into the break and despite cooling down a bit (46.9 percent shooting) in the second half, the Arrows were unable to cut into the lead significantly.

Senior Laura Campbell led a trio of Arrows who scored in double figures with her 16 points. Her classmate Dee Erazo chipped in 12 points and a team-high seven rebounds while junior Natalie Cook scored 11 to give the UC starting frontcourt a combined 39 points.

(Note: Campbell hit five three-pointers, putting her over 200 (203) for her career. She is just the second player in program history to reach that milestone.)

TNU was led by 21 points, 10 rebounds and six blocks from reserve center Anissa Ragland. Anna Mitchell scored 14 points and pulled down eight rebounds as part of the second unit while Christina Curtner led the Trojans starting five with 11 points.

Ursuline was done in by the turnover bug as 24 Arrow miscues allowed TNU to attempt 15 more shots in the game. The Trojans did turn the ball over 13 times themselves but were credited with 24 assists.

The Arrows will head out of conference for a game at Salem International University on Wednesday (Jan. 23) evening. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. and Max Radigan of the Ursuline College Sports Network will call the action here.

Ursuline and Trevecca Nazarene will play again next Saturday (Jan. 26) in Nashville, Tenn.
