PEPPER PIKE, Ohio – The Arrows (3-11, 0-2 G-MAC) had a tough shooting night and that ultimately did them in against a talented Cedarville (11-5, 2-1 G-MAC) team in Tuesday night’s 74-50 defeat. Ursuline hit 18 of its 57 field goal attempts (31.6 percent) while the Yellow Jackets were 27 of 55 (49.1 percent) from the field and that pretty much summed up the game.
Despite Cedarville shooting 54.5 percent in the first half, the Arrows hung around and trailed by 11 at halftime, due in large part to 11 points from sophomore point guard Brianna Woods.
The Yellow Jackets keyed in on Woods in the second stanza and held her to two points while taking senior Laura Campbell out of the game on the offensive end. Ursuline’s senior leader had reached double figures in scoring in each of the first 13 games but was held to just five points on 2-10 shooting Tuesday night.
Junior Natalie Cook stepped up in the scoring department and finished with 14 points, tying her highest output of the season.
Ursuline was outrebounded 20-7 in the second half and 36-20 throughout the game. The Yellow Jackets also had a balanced scoring attack that featured five players who scored at least eight points, led by Deborah Gordon’s 12.
The Arrows will try and end their four-game losing skid on Saturday (Jan. 19) when
Trevecca Nazarene University visits for a 2:00 p.m. contest. The Trojans are off until Saturday and will come to town with a 12-5 record and a 2-0 mark in conference play while riding the high of a seven-game winning streak.
