Ursuline Box Score vs. Kentucky Wesleyan / Ursuline Box Score vs. Glenville State

Owensboro, Ky. ­– The Arrows dropped their first two matches of the Kentucky Wesleyan Classic, falling to the host Panthers in four sets before coming up short against Glenville State College in a match that went the distance.

Set scores against Kemtucky Wesleyan were 25-16, 25-11, 22-25 and 25-23. Ursline lost the first set against Glenville State, 25-22, but rallied to win sets two and three by scores of 25-22 and 25-23. The Pioneers took the final two sets, 25-16 and 15-10.

Ursuline is now 0-7.

Junior Alex Leister combined for 23 kills on the day, one more than classmate Maureen Kelly. Junior transfer Heidi Mervar was the other Arrow who got into double-digits on Friday as she recorded 16 kills.

Ashley Reinhart was steady as the setter. She dished out nine assists in both matches. Defensively, Leister and sophomore Kelly Stenger both scooped out 34 digs while Kelly recorded 20.

Mervar made her presence felt with five blocks after sophomore Brittany Kempf set the tone with two blocks in the first match of the day.

The Arrows will conclude the Kentucky Wesleyan Classic with two more matches tomorrow. Ursuline takes on Bluefield College at 12:15 p.m. and Oakland City University at 7:00 p.m.
