EDINBORO, Pa. – For the first time since October 9, 2010 when Ursuline needed five sets to defeat Houghton College, the Arrows played in a match that needed to go the distance to decide a winner. Unfortunately, this one didn’t end with a favorable outcome as host Edinboro won the marathon match, 3-2.
Edinboro won the first set 25-21 before Ursuline bounced back and won the next two, 25-22 and 25-18. The Fighting Scots won the fourth set 25-22 before taking the deciding fifth set, 15-12.
Ursuline is now 1-9 while Edinboro won its home opener to improve to 1-8.
Junior Alex Leister had a team-high 11 kills to go with 13 digs and classmate Maureen Kelly posted seven kills and 17 digs.
Sophomore Kelly Stenger led the defense with 22 digs while junior setter Ashley Reinhart had 22 assists and seven digs.
Edinboro had three players post double-digits kill totals and was led by 25 kills from Tabitha Meeks.
After 10 away matches to start the year, the Arrows will finally compete at home on Saturday (Sep. 15). Ursuline will take on
LeMoyne College at 11:00 a.m. and
Millersville University at 3:00 p.m. LeMoyne will battle Millersville at 1:00 p.m.
