Box Score vs. West Virginia Wesleyan
Fairmont, W.Va. – The Ursuline volleyball team came up short in its final two matches of the Falcon Fest, hosted by Fairmont State University. The Shepherd Rams were victorious in three sets: 25-19, 25-13 and 25-15.
Ursuline knocked off West Virginia Wesleyan 25-21 in the first set of the second match of the day, but the Bobcats won both the second (25-18) and third (25-14) sets to take a 2-1 lead. The Arrows won the fourth set on a 25-20 count to force a deciding fifth set, a game that went to West Virginia Wesleyan, 15-13.
In the first match, junior Alex Leister led the club with eight kills while classmate Maureen Kelly chipped in three. Newcomers Heid Mervar and Elise Harcek each had two kills.
Sophomore Kelley Plas was credited with nine assists while junior Ashley Reinhart helped out on five kills. Sophomore defensive specialist Kelly Stenger recorded a team-high 10 digs.
Stats from match against West Virginia Wesleyan were not immediately available.
The Arrows (0-4) will return to action on Tuesday (Sept. 4) with a 7:00 p.m. match at
Tiffin University in what will be the Dragons home opener.
