Basketball drops road contest to Malone, 68-58

With only five active players for the second-straight contest, the Ursuline College basketball team played strong, but couldn't pull out a victory, losing to Malone on the road, 68-58 on Saturday afternoon.

The Arrows (6-14) held a one-point lead with 14 minutes left to go in the game, but an 8-0 run by Malone (11-11) gave them an advantage Ursuline could not come back from. The Pioneers out-shot Ursuline in the second half 41% (14-24) to 39% (9-25) to claim the 10-point victory.

Standing out for Ursuline was the performance of Brooke Trauthwein, who scored a game-high 28 points on 11-20 shooting, including six 3-pointers. Katie Cappello scored 16 points and had a game-high and career-high 18 rebounds, including nine on the offensive board.

Malone had three players in double-figures, led by Lindsy Snyder's 18 points and nine rebounds. Sydnee Penn scored 15 points and had nine rebounds as well.

Ursuline returns home on Tuesday to take on Cedarville, starting at 7:00 p.m. The game will feature one of the final two Buffalo Wild WIng nights at the O'Brien Athletic Center. Buffalo Wild Wings (Mayfield Road in Lyndhurst) will be providing fans with free wings - starting prior to tip-off at 6:30 p.m.
