Campbell scores her 1,000th career point in Arrows loss

Campbell and Cappello after Campbell scores 1000th point
On the very first shot of the game for Ursuline, Laura Campbell scored her 1,000th career point, becoming only the fourth player in team history (12 seasons) to reach that milestone. The junior went on to score 21 points and grab 10 rebounds, and she now stands fourth all-time in scoring with 1,019 career points. However, the Arrows dropped the home contest to Central State University, 85-71.

Katie Cappello scored a team-high 23 points, including going 10-11 at the free throw line. Tyler Gassett and Brooke Trauthwein joined Campbell and Cappello in double-figures with 12 and 11 points scored respectively. Natalie Cook led the team with 11 rebounds and she also had four points and a pair of steals.

As a team, the Arrows were impressive from the free throw line, going 20-22, however, 24 turnovers caused by full-court pressure from the Marauders, led to easy transition points for Central State. For the game, CSU shot 46% and had only 12 turnovers.

Other records of note: Cappello moved into eighth place all-time in scoring (558 points); Trauthwein moved into the top ten in three-pointers made (57); and Cappello also moved from 11th in single-season scoring into fifth with her 23 points (404 points this season)

Ursuline looks to close out its regular-season at home on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. against Salem International. The game will feature Parents Day celebration and the Kids Kicking Cancer charity fundraiser.
