Baldwin-Wallace University Tri-Meet Results
BEREA, Ohio – The Ursuline College swimming team wrapped up the 2012 portion of its schedule on Sunday (Dec. 16) at Baldwin Wallace University’s tri-meet. The Arrows lost to the host Yellow Jackets by a score of 106-61 and fell to Defiance College, 67-65.
In the other dual, Baldwin Wallace bested Defiance, 122-36. Ursuline finished the day with an overall record of 1-6 while Baldwin Wallace closed the day at 4-5 and Defiance at 3-11.
The afternoon started with the Arrows winning the 200 yard medley relay in 2:01.23. Freshman Danielle Reed started strong with the second quickest first leg before giving way to junior Allie Butta. Butta turned in a time of 34.44 in the breaststroke portion while her opponents from Baldwin Wallace both swam north of 37 seconds.
Junior Danielle Szczypkowski turned in the best butterfly split (29.12) to widen Ursuline’s lead and senior Kristina Valentic finished strong with a 50 free split of 27.40.
Baldwin Wallace’s two quartets finished in 2:04.18 and 2:11.47, respectively.
The Arrows had another strong showing in the 50 free when Reed won the race in 26.46 and Valentic placed third in 28.35. Sandwiched in between was Defiance’s Jacqueline Loock who touched in 27.95.
In what was the final individual race of the afternoon, Butta won the 200 breast in 2:43.69, almost eight seconds quicker than the closest finisher. Freshman Kaylee Ruiz took third in 3:26.15.
Ursuline is idle from competition until a Jan. 11, 2013 showdown with
Urbana University. On Oct. 27, the Blue Knights bested the Arrows, 66-23.
