PEPPER PIKE, Ohio – The Ursuline College volleyball team concluded the 2012 regular season with a 3-1 loss to Edinboro University at home on Tuesday (Nov. 6) night.

Ursuline fell behind 2-0 (25-14, 25-14) but battled back with a 25-20 third set victory to force a fourth set, a game they ultimately lost 25-23.

The Arrows are now 6-29 overall (2-6 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference) while Edinboro beat UC for the second time season to improve to 9-22 overall.

In the first set, the Fighting Scots hit .357 while Ursuline came in at a .091 clip. It was pretty much the same story in the second set with Edinboro finishing with a .267 attack percentage and Ursuline claiming a -.077.

Ursuline showed what it is capable of in the third set when the Arrows hit .333 to push the match to a fourth game. The Arrows almost crawled all the way back after finding themselves down 24-17 in the fourth frame by rallying off six straight points to get within one before a UC service error ended the match.

Junior Maureen Kelly led the Arrows with 12 kills, one more than classmate Alex Leister. Tabitha Meeks (13) and Megan Branchick (11) were the only Edinboro student-athletes to record double-digit kills.

UC junior setter Ashley Reinhart had a match-high 25 assists while the Edinboro duo of Katie Felix (22) and Erin Schatzle (18) combined for 40 helpers. Defensively, Leister led the team with 14 digs while Reinhart posted 12.

Ursuline is in action next at the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Volleyball Championships which will be held Nov. 16-17 – most likely at Cedarville University. The Yellow Jackets have matches against Trevecca Nazarene University and Central State University on Saturday (Nov. 10) and one win would clinch Cedarville the regular season title.

As the fourth seed in the tournament, the Arrows will open with Central State University at 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 16. In both meetings with the Marauders this season, Ursuline won 3-0.
