ERIE, Pa. – For a team that is hindered by injuries and learning a system from a new coach, going on the road to face No. 15 Gannon University was not the ideal scenario on Wednesday (Nov. 21) night. Ursuline College put up a valiant effort but fell to the Lady Knights, 100-48.

The loss was Ursuline’s fourth straight to start the season while Gannon improved to 4-1 with its lone loss coming at the hands of perennial power Ashland University.

Gannon’s Jen Papich led all scorers with 25 points on 11 of 17 shooting and three other Lady Knights scored in double figures. Senior Laura Campbell led Ursuline with 15 points while classmate Dee Erazo chipped in nine points and pulled down a career-high nine rebounds.

Junior Natalie Cook was four of five from the field and finished with 10 points.

Ursuline shot 47.2 percent (17-36) from the field but again struggled with turnovers, losing that battle 32-8. Gannon attempted 81 shots and hit 42 to finish with a 51.9 percent clip and was a scorching 13-30 (43.3 percent) from three-point territory.

The Arrows are back in action on Monday (Nov. 26) night against Lake Erie College.
