Box Score vs. Central State / Box Score vs. Cedarville
Note: Ursuline College played Central State University in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference semifinal on Nov. 16. Later that night, the Arrows battled Cedarville University. The recaps are below in chronological order.
CEDARVILLE, Ohio – The Ursuline College (7-29, 2-6 G-MAC) volleyball team – seeded fourth at the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Volleyball Championships - defeated fifth-seeded Central State University (0-18, 0-8) for the third time this season on Friday (Nov. 16) afternoon. The Arrows swept the Marauders 3-0 in the opening match of the postseason tournament. Set scores were 25-4, 25-14 and 25-16.
While it was the third time that the Arrows got past their conference foe, Friday’s victory was clearly the most important as it advanced Donna Day’s team to tonight’s G-MAC Volleyball Championships semifinal against top-seeded Cedarville University (30-6, 8-0 G-MAC). The Yellow Jackets beat Ursuline in the first two meetings of the 2012 season but the Arrows have a shot at revenge in the match that is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m.
Junior Alex Leister led the team with 10 kills while freshman Elise Harcek had eight and sophomore Brittany Kempf chipped in seven. Junior setter Ashley Reinhart put her teammates in a position to succeed with 31 assists while sophomore libero Kelly Stenger led the defense with nine digs.
