ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. – The Ursuline College volleyball team went up against a pair of teams looking to continue winning streaks on Monday (Oct. 8) at the Rochester College tri-match and came up on the wrong end of both matches at the Rochester College tri-match. The host Warriors and Aquinas College were both too hot and knocked off the Arrows in three sets.
Rochester took the match – the third win in a row for the Warriors – by scores of 25-23, 25-19 and 25-23 to even its record at 14-14 overall. Set scores against Aquinas were 25-12, 25-20 and 25-13, giving the Saints their fourth straight victory and improving the club to 8-11 overall. The Arrows are now 2-23.
The Arrows totaled 26 kills in the match against Rochester, 13 of which were credited to junior Alex Leister. Junior Maureen Kelly had six kills and junior transfer Heidi Mervar chipped in three.
Junior setter Ashley Reinhart had 21 assists while sophomore Kelly Stenger led the team with 14 kills.
Kelly led the charge in the second match of the day with team-highs of 10 kills and 17 digs while Reinhart dished out 16 assists against the Saints.
Ursuline returns home for the first time since Sep. 27 when
Oberlin College comes to town on Wednesday (Oct. 10) for a match that will begin at 7:00 p.m. The Yeowomen are 7-11 overall and have dropped five straight. Max Radigan of the Ursuline College Sports Network will provide
