Volleyball Team Comes up Short in Cedarville

Box Score vs. Travecca Nazarene / Box Score vs. Shawnee State

CEDARVILLE, Ohio ­– The Ursuline College volleyball team fell to Travecca Nazarene University and Shawnee State University in three sets on Saturday (Oct. 6) in Cedarville, Ohio.

Set scores against Travecca Nazarene were 25-20, 26-24 and 25-4. Shawnee State took the match 25-14, 25-22 and 25-21.

The Arrows are now 2-21 overall and 1-4 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference. Travecca Nazarene finished the day 14-9 and 3-2 in the G-MAC after falling to Cedarville in the first match of the day. With the win, Shawnee State improved to 17-5 overall.

Junior Alex Leister combined for 17 kills (six vs. Travecca Nazarene, 11 against Shawnee State) on the afternoon while her classmate Maureen Kelly chipped in 13. Junior setter Ashley Reinhart handed out 39 assists (including 21 against Shawnee State) which was good for an average of 6.5 assists per set throughout the day.

Leister and sophomore libero Kelly Stenger each had 20 digs to pace the defense while Reinhart kicked in 10 of her own.

Ursuline gets Sunday off before returning to action on Monday (Oct. 8). The Arrows will take on the 13-14 Warriors of Rochester College at 4:00 p.m. before Aquinas College at 6:00 p.m.
