Box Score vs. Case Western / Box Score vs. Kenyon College
CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Ursuline College volleyball team walked away from the Case Western Reserve University ‘Dig for a Cure’ Tri-Match with a split after falling to the host Spartans and knocking off Kenyon College. Both matches were decided in three sets.
Case took the match 25-11, 25-23, 25-20 before Ursuline bounced back with a 25-13, 25-21, 25-19 victory.
The Arrows are now 6-27 overall (2-5 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference) while Case improved to 22-9 overall and Kenyon dropped its 11th straight match to slip to 3-18.
Junior Alex Leister led the charge against Case with a team-high 14 kills while four other Arrows recorded at least four kills, most of which came courtesy of junior setter Ashley Reinhart who handed out 21 assists. Defensively, sophomore libero Kelly Stenger posted 23 digs to lead a UC quartet that recorded double-digit dig totals.
Against Kenyon, Leister slammed home 12 balls while sophomore Brittany Kempf continued her recent tear with a career-high 10 kills (just one error for a .692 hitting percentage). Reinhart was credited with 29 assists and 14 digs while freshman Jaclyn Brandt posted a season-high 18 digs.
The Arrows have two matches left in the regular season, both of which will be played at home. Ursuline hosts conference foe
Urbana University on Friday (Nov. 2) before a re-match with
Edinboro University on Nov. 6.
