Box Score

PEPPER PIKE, Ohio – The Ursuline College volleyball team knocked off Central State University in three sets for the second time this season, defeating the Marauders 25-10, 25-9 and 25-17 in front of the home fans at the Matthew J. O’Brien Athletic Center on Monday (Oct. 15) night.

The Arrows improved to 4-24 overall and 2-4 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference while winning their second match in their last three tries – both of which were 3-0 victories. Central State remains winless at 0-9 overall and 0-4 in the G-MAC.

As a team, Ursuline hit at a .302 clip thanks in large part to a tremendous first set that saw the Arrows record 12 kills and commit just one error in 27 chances. On the flipside, Central State had a .000 hitting percentage after totaling 17 kills and 17 errors in 76 chances.

Junior Alex Leister had a match-high 11 kills while being charged with just one error. Freshman Elise Harcek slammed home eight balls and finished with a .400 hitting percentage while sophomore Brittany Kempf had five kills en route to hitting .556 on the night. Junior setter Ashley Reinhart had 29 assists to go with her five kills (.625) while sophomore Kelly Stenger led the squad with 13 digs.

Ursuline has little time to celebrate the victory with Tiffin University coming to Pepper Pike on Tuesday for a 7:00 p.m. contest. It will be a re-match of the Sep. 4 showdown that Tiffin won 3-0. The Dragons are 6-12 so far this year and own a 1-8 record in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
