PEPPER PIKE, Ohio – The Ursuline College volleyball team got back in the win column with a three-set victory over Oberlin College on Wednesday (Oct. 10) night. The Arrows won the match 25-16, 25-12 and 25-23.
With the win, Ursuline is now 3-23 while Oberlin dropped its eighth match in a row to fall to 7-12.
Junior Alex Leister led the Arrows with 11 kills, one more than classmate Maureen Kelly. Junior Ashley Reinhart chipped in three kills, as did freshman Elise Harcek. Junior Heidi Mervar and freshman McKenzie Fry each were each credited with a pair of kills.
Reinhart had a superb night with three kills in eight attacks and 23 assists to go with her seven digs.
Sophomore libero Kelly Stenger had 16 digs while Leister had 10 and freshman Jaclyn Brandt had six.
Tonight’s match was the first of six straight contests that Ursuline will play at the Matthew J. O’Brien Athletic Center. On Saturday (Oct. 13),
Fairmont State University visits for a 5:00 p.m. match. The Falcons head into Friday’s (Oct. 12) match with Ohio Valley University owning a 14-5 record and an eight-match winning streak.
