The Ursuline College Arrows started off 2012 win a victory over Carlow University on Saturday afternoon at home, 58-38. The Arrows (5-8) played tremendous defense, holding the Celtics (6-6) to just 28% shooting, while Katie Cappello scored a game-high 21 points.

For Cappello, it is the fifth-straight game in which she has reached 20 points, and it was her second-straight double-double as she had a team-high 10 rebounds.

With only seven healthy players, the Arrows were able to shut down the offensive attack of Carlow and the roster of 13 players that saw action. At halftime, UC held an impressive 27-14 lead as Carlow shot just 6-of-27, and was 0-for-7 from long range. For the game, Ursuline did not allow a three point basket.

UC forced 19 turnovers and totaled 15 steals, compared to giving up just 16 turnover of its own on eight steals. The Arrows also out-rebounded the Celtics 42-36.

Ursuline will takes is two-game win streak on the road next week to face Salem International on Wednesday, January 11 at 5:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on the UC Sports Network.
