Notre Dame inches past Ursuline Basketball, 72-63

Ursuline outplayed Notre Dame College in almost every category on Saturday, but fell 72-63 behind 27 turnovers, which allowed the Falcons two important scoring runs that secured the victory. Laura Campbell led the way with a game-high 25 points on 10-16 shooting.

Notre Dame came out with an 11-0 run to start the game, but Ursuline battled back with a 31-18 run to take a two point lead with just a few minutes left in the half. The Falcons then closed out the half with a 9-0 run to hold a 38-31 advantage at halftime. 

In the second half, Notre Dame pushed its lead to 14 points at 58-44. However, the Arrows put together a 9-0 run to close the score to 58-53, though Ursuline could not get any closer as the Falcons won the second half 34-32, relying on the late run in the first half to secure with win.

Katie Cappello scored 16 points in the loss and had a game-high eight rebounds to go with three steals. Tyler Gassett scored 10 points, while Brianna Woods dished out 10 assists. 

Notre Dame got a team-high 17 points from Martha Nagbe, while Brittany Reddy and Alex Dackin joined her in double-figures with 13 and 10 points respectively.

Ursuline outshot Notre Dame 42.9% to 42.6%, out-rebounded them 40-35, had five three-pointers to just four for NDC, shot 77% from the free-throw, while the Falcons shot 67%. The Arrows also had 15 assists to 12 for Notre Dame.

The Arrows will hit the road for their next two contests, starting Tuesday, January 31 at Central State, and then Saturday, February 4 at Malone. Both games will be broadcast live on the UC Sports Network. Check the basketball schedule for start times - as well as quick links to the broadcast.
