Katie Cappello scored a team season-high 28 points on Saturday, but it wasn't enough as the Ursuline College Arrows (3-7) fell 80-59 to Roberts Wesleyan University (7-4).
Jaylene Taylor had her third-straight double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Roberts used full-court pressure all afternoon, forcing the Arrows into 23 turnovers, leading to easy baskets. The Raiders shot exactly 17-35 (48.6%) in each half, while Ursuline struggled from long distance - making only two of 17 attempts. The Arrows were 22-54 from inside the arc as Cappello and Taylor scored a majority of their 40 combined points in the lane.
UC out-rebounded Roberts 46-43, including grabbing an impressive 22 offensive rebounds.
Laura Campbell joined Cappello and Taylor in double-figures, scoring 10 points.
Brianna Woods dished out eight assists and grabbed five rebounds and had three steals.
However, between 23 turnovers, plus 11 blocked shots by Roberts, the Arrows could not manage to keep up with the Raiders and now fall to 3-7 heading into the winter break. Ursuline will next compete in the Ohio Wesleyan Basketball Tournament on December 29 and 30. Their first round game is on the 29th against Marietta at 8:00 p.m.
