The Ursuline College volleyball team closed out its 2011 regular-season, honoring the two seniors on the roster -
Megan Bus and
Briana Mlady. However, the Arrows dropped the match in four games to Cedarville University, closing the season at 11-19 overall and 1-7 against OIC opponents (Ohio Independent Championship).
The Arrows came out strong against the Yellow Jackets, winning the first game in dominating fashion, 25-21, but lead by as many as ten late in the game. However, after a close loss in game two (25-21), Cedarville found its groove and cruised to wins in game three (25-12) and four (25-15).
Bus had nine digs and an assist in four games played, while Mlady played in all four games, but didn't record a a stat defensively.
Ashley Reinhart led the team with 10 kills, while
Kelley Plas had 29 assists, and Kelly Stenger had a match-high 22 digs.
Alex Leister chipped in with 17 digs.
Cedarville had four players with double-digit kills, led by Kelsey Christiansen's 15 kills. Erica Bartholomew had a match-high 46 assists, and Heather Kirkpatrick tied Stenger with a match-high 22 digs.
The Arrows will now move on to the OIC tournament, hosted by Walsh this weekend. Times and opponents have not been established, but are expected to be announced on Wednesday or Thursday at the latest. Check back to UrsulineArrows.com and
