Ed Karasek was named the first head lacrosse coach in the history of Ursuline College in 2012. The inaugural team played its first season in the spring of 2014. The all freshmen team managed to place seventh in the very competitive Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), made up of all NCAA Division II teams.
Karasek is a northeast Ohio native and a graduate of Padua Franciscan High School. He played lacrosse under legendary coach Mickey Cochrane at Bowling Green State University when BGSU was one of a few Midwestern institutions to offer a Division I program. Karasek played midfield and defense for the Falcons.
He earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Bowling Green. Coach later went on to earn his MBA from Northern Illinois University after serving two years of active duty as an officer in the US Army where he was a recipient of the Army Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service.
Karasek has been coaching women's college lacrosse since 2008. His college coaching career began at Indiana Tech in Fort Wayne where he built the inaugural women's lacrosse team from scratch. While at Indiana Tech, the Warriors won the first ever National Women's Lacrosse League (NWLL) conference championship in 2011. In 2012, Karasek's team went on to win the NWLL with a record of 9-1. Now coaching at Ursuline College, Coach Karasek has big plans, both academically and athletically, for the women's lacrosse team which will be in its second season in 2015. His goals are to establish a winning tradition at Ursuline College and also to have a positive impact upon each and every player on the team.
His lifetime record is 51-27 (.654) at the collegiate level.
