The Ursuline College athletic department has announced the hiring of Matt Cook as the Swimming & Diving coach effectively immediately.

Cook joins Ursuline with a wealth of Division II experience both as a coach and a student-athlete. Most recently, he worked at the University of Findlay a Graduate Assistant where he will complete his Master’s this May in Education.

“I am very excited to get started at Ursuline and looking forward to the opportunity to take the swimming program to new heights,” said Cook.

With the Oiler’s, he designed and implemented training that led to 16 All-America awards and multiple school records. He also played an integral role in recruiting as well as team travel and budgeting.

Prior to coaching at Findlay, Cook worked with another incoming G-MAC school in Lake Erie as the Interim Head Coach. With the Storm, he coached the school’s first female Conference Champion and All-American.

As a student-athlete, Cook had a decorated career at Ashland University where he competed from 2007-2011. Cook was a seven-time All-American in the Backstroke and was a team captain for the Eagles.

“We are extremely excited to add a coach with the experience at the Division II level that Matt brings. He is a great addition to our staff and a tremendous resource for our student-athletes,” said Ursuline College Athletics Director Cindy McKnight.

Cook spent a year at nearby Hathaway Brown High School as a substitute teacher and worked at Menlo Park Academy as a Physical Education Teacher.
