Morgan Melloh

Melloh, who began her playing career at Fresno State, transferred to Indiana University where she completed her degree in the fall of 2010. With the Hoosiers, she was named First Team All-Big Ten as a pitcher and became the first Hoosier since 1996 to win the Big Ten Pitcher of the Year award in 2011. She is only one of four NCAA Division I pitchers to throw back-to-back 400 strikeout seasons in her first two collegiate seasons.

Melloh still has her name in the NCAA single-season record books; ranking second in strike outs (450), fifth in shutouts (17) and seventh in wins (30).

Prior to coming to Ursuline, Melloh worked as a graduate assistant at Indiana State University. She has also played professionally in the states for the Scrap Yard Dawgs and on several international teams including in Germany and most recently for Team Honda in Japan. This coming season, Melloh will play for South Australia.

Melloh was also a Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-Midwest Region First-Team selection in 2011. Her 32 wins are the third-most in a season in school history and she also recorded a career high 21 strikeouts against Wisconsin in April of 2011. In her career, she had 87 games with 10 plus strikeouts, including 27 during her senior year and finished her career with 1,532 strikeouts which ranks ninth all time in NCAA history.

She also has played professionally with the Dallas Charge where she finished the 2015 season with the second best ERA (2.39) on the team and finished in the top 10 in the NPF. She limited the opposition to a .206 average against her and had six complete games in 11 starts.

“We are extremely happy to have Morgan join our staff,” said Ursuline head coach Sue Woodford. “She is a highly competitive athlete who brings discipline and edge to her play. She has a great skill set for softball and will help our team as we prepare for championship level play. We are very excited for Coach Melloh to join us on an everyday basis.”
