Senior Day Split for Softball Against Saints

SCORES:  GAME ONE - Arrows – 2, Saints - 8 , GAME TWO – Arrows 10, Saints - 3
LOCATION: Pepper Pike, OH
 
GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS:
  • The Saints put themselves on the board first in the second inning with three runs. At the bottom of the second, Barton answered with a knock out triple to right field, sending two of her teammates running home. Bridget Bogden and Ashlee Mclean scoring on the play to bring the game to 2-3.
  • TMU put in four more runs before Kailey Vaillancourt came in to pitch at the top of the fifth.
  • Vaillancourt got the Arrows out of the inning in a quick three. She let up just one run in the 6th inning but the Arrows were unable to put another run on the board to come back.
 
GAME ONE STATS:
  • Runs/Hits/Errors: Arrows –2/7/1, Saints – 8/7/1
  • Runners left on base: Arrows – 7, Saints – 5
  • Losing Pitcher: Kathleen Wack (2-10) 4 IP, 5 H, 7 R, 5 BB, 4 K 
  • Winning Pitcher: : A. Gottlieb (3-4) 7 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 3 BB, 4 K 
 
GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS:
  • The Saints fed on momentum and scored the first two runs of the game again, in the first and second inning.
  • At the bottom of the second, the Arrows had the bases loaded as Evy Vallejo stepped up to bat. An RBI single from Vallejo sent Mazzocca running home.
  • Holly Earl knocked out a double to center field directly after, tallying 2 RBI's on runs from Barton and Bogden to take the 3-2 lead.
  • After just four batters at the top of the third, Heidi Earl and Angeleah Saltenis put in singles before Brant-Badillo doubled to center field for an RBI.
  • Mazzocca singled right after for her own RBI as Mclean scored while pinch running.
  • With Bogden up to bat, Brant-Badillo took advantage of a wild pitch and dove into home plate to score the 6th run for the Arrows.
  • At the bottom of the 5th, Brant-Badillo and Mazzocca started off with a double and single. An RBI bunt for Bogden sent home Brant Badillo and a single from Barton sent in the 8th run as Ivanney Ramirez was pinch running.
  • A sacrifice fly from Evy Vallejo set Bogden up to score the 9th run and Holly Early singled for the Arrows final 10th run of the game as Barton scored.
  • Macy Searles pitched a quick three outs in the 6th and held off their hitters in just four at-bats in the 7th to lock in the 10-3 victory.

  • Runs/Hits/Errors: Arrows – 10/14/3, Saints – 3/8/0
  • Runners left on base: Arrows – 7, Saints – 8
  • Losing Pitcher: K. Ropp (7-11) 2 IP, 7 H, 5 R, 2 BB, 0 K 
  • Winning Pitcher: Macy Searles (4-10) 5.2 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 2 K 
 
DOUBLE HEADER TOP PERFORMERS:
  • Holly Earl tallied 4 hits and 3 RBI's on 7 at-bats. Defensively at third base, she had 2 putouts and 7 assists.
  • Heidi Earl had 3 hits and 1 run on 7 at-bats. She recorded 9 assists and 3 put outs defensively.
  • Casey Barton tallied 2 runs, 3 hits and 3 RBI's on her 7 ABs.
 
UP NEXT:
  • The Arrows host Kentucky Wesleyan College tomorrow, April 19th. The game will be played at 1 & 3 pm at John Carroll University.
