Softball Splits With Storm In Double-Header

SCORES:  GAME ONE - Arrows – 6, Storm - 3 , GAME TWO – Arrows 1, Storm -3
LOCATION: Painesville, OH
 
GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS:
  • The Storm led off with the first two runs of the game in the first and second inning.
  • At the top of the 4th, Spencer Mohr singled through the left side, tallying an RBI as Ivanney Ramirez scored the Arrows first run.
  • At the top of the 5th, Ashlee Mclean came in to pinch run for Jaden Seay at first. With Evy Vallejo up to bat, she doubled to right center to tie the game up as Mclean ran home.
  • With Bogden up to bat next, she hit the Arrows back-to-back double for Vallejo to bring the game to 3-2.
  • The Storm once again tied the game up in the bottom of the 5th.
  • At the top of the 7th, Bogden put herself on first with a single through the left side. Casey Barton stepped up the bat and knocked out a triple to center field to score UC's 4th run.
  • Barton scored her own run the next play from a Ramirez's hit.
  • Ivanney scored the Arrows final run of the game after Heidi Earl reached first on an error by the third baseman.

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS:
  • With momentum from the game one win, the Arrows put themselves on the board first in the second inning. Casey Barton singled to left field, scoring an RBI as Jaden Seay ran home.
  • The Arrows held the Storm off until the sixth inning, when they scored an unearned run on an error.
  • With the game being sent into extra innings, the Storm locked in the win in the bottom of the ninth.
 
GAME TWO STATS:
  • Runs/Hits/Errors: Arrows – 1/13/1, Storm – 2/8/29
  • Runners left on base: Arrows – 11, Storm – 4
  • Losing Pitcher: Kathleen Wack (1-6) 8.1 IP, 8 H, 2 R, 0 BB, 5 K
  • Winning Pitcher: K. Mortensen (1-9) 9 IP, 13 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 3 K 
 
DOUBLE HEADER TOP PERFORMERS:
  • Casey Barton tallied 2 RBI's, 1 run, and 4 hits on 9 Abs. She had 4 put outs at right field.
  • Spencer Mohr had 3 hits on 8 at bats, tallying 9 put outs while catching.
  • Macy Searless and Kathleen Wack had 5 strikeouts each.
 
UP NEXT:
  • The Arrows were scheduled to take on the Pioneers on Friday, March 28th but will be postponing the game due to weather and field conditions.
  • The double-header is temporarily rescheduled to Tuesday, April 1st at Malone University.
