The Ursuline College Men's Cross Country Team competed at the G-MAC Championships for the first time in school history, where the Arrows placed 10th overall just one point away from a 9th-place finish out of 11 teams.
The first-year program had a strong showing at the championships, with all seven runners recording personal bests. The men's race kicked off after the women's race at 11a.m. and featured an 8k championship course on the Fisher Family Trail at Northwood University. Freshman
Austin Sneed led the way for the Arrows with a very impressive performance, breaking the 27-minute barrier with a time of 26:30 to place 88th overall in his first collegiate championship competition. Teammate
Thelonius Lucien also came up big, finishing right behind Sneed in 89th place with a time of 26:31. Lucien has shown tremendous improvement since arriving at UC this fall, running a personal best that was 1 minute and 37 seconds faster than his previous 8k mark before arriving to UC. Freshman
Ryan Jeanneret joined the sub-27-minute club with a personal best of 26:59, placing 105th overall on the day.
Arjun Patel saved his best performance for the biggest meet of the season, running a huge personal best of 27:43 more than a one-minute improvement from just a week ago at the Oberlin Inter-Regional Rumble. Teammates
Tyler Krese and
Micah Earnest also had standout performances, with Krese running 30:03 a three-minute personal best and Earnest close behind in 30:30.
Larry Stamper rounded out the group with a huge personal best of 32:57 in the 8k race.
The Arrows scored 311 points to place 10th overall out of 11 teams, finishing just one point behind 9th-place Thomas More University, which scored 310. The Arrows concluded a historic season at the G-MAC Championships, marking the first-ever men's athletic program to compete wearing the Ursuline uniform.
