The Ursuline College softball team split a weekend series with visiting Kentucky Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon in Pepper Pike.
 
With Kentucky Wesleyan leading 1-0 in the third inning, Ursuline's offense used the long ball to take the lead in the home half of the frame. Freshman Kat Ferretti homered over the left field fence, the first of her career to make it 1-1 and senior Leah Leshnack hit the very next pitch over the right center field fence to give the Arrows a 2-1 lead.
 
The Arrows piled on in the fifth inning after senior Alison Hughes singled and senior Hannah Trent reached on a fielder's choice. Ferretti followed with the second hit of the inning and senior Sadie Jones drove in a run to make it 3-1. Senior Brooklyn Miller delivered an RBI single up the middle to score Trent and senior Karlie Wilbur connected with a two-run single to make it 6-1.
 
The Panthers offense rallied in the top of the sixth inning with five runs before eventually getting the winning run across in the eighth inning.
 
Miller took the loss despite striking out seven and only walking two batters in eight innings.
 
In game two, Arrows freshman starter Nicole Rawlings pitched a four-hit shutout while striking out six and walking four to give the Arrows a 1-0 win.
 
The loan Ursuline run came on Leshnack's second home run of the day, this time a solo shot over the left field fence.
 
Jones also collected a pair of hits in the game for Ursuline.
